Overview
Next Page is an education and discussion mobile application
made to increase user engagement in reading; making it a
more interesting and social experience between users. By including open discussions for books, broken down by sections and chapters it organizes discussion in a low stress environment.
Next Page is designed for users that aspire to be more
active in reading and education but have difficulty committing
or concentrating on the task. By including interactive incentives,
it encourages the user to return to the app and engage with
other users making reading a more enjoyable experience.
Ideation
During the ideation phase of the process, I did serval different brainstorming exercises to increase creative thinking in
how to approach the situation from a different and fresh perspective outside of existing apps for reading and discussions.
I created a user persona with the idea that the user has an interest in reading but has always had issues committing to the idea of reading or having issues concentrating on reading during their free time. While being a workaholic by trade because they like to get things done, they are naturally a creative and more drawn to interactive experiences with different visuals; one of the main reasons they have always been unable to finish a book they have started. By including a social aspect to the application, it creates a point of interaction for the user making it a more engaging experience that will hopefully make the user want to continue using the app.
What Inspires Next Page?
Next Page is inspired with the idea of how to bring a fresh perspective to reading to those that are already deeply interested in reading, and those that want to be included but are having a difficult time.

Color Story + Icon Library
Cool colors were chosen in order to differentiate from current book related apps. It is known in studies that people associate the color blue with mindfulness and the feeling of being calm, and with that in mind I chose blue to represent Next Page in order to give the feeling of calmness and mindfulness in a reading sense for those that are easily overwhelmed by the act or thought of reading. (Very Well Mind)
